Single vs double round robin
Single round robin schedules every pair once — ideal for weekend tournaments and school events. Double round robin runs two full cycles with home and away reversed, common in professional leagues. Switch formats anytime without re-entering team names.
How matchups are generated
This generator uses the cyclic rotation method — the standard approach in official sports scheduling. One team stays fixed while the others rotate each round, guaranteeing every pairing appears exactly once. In balanced mode, home and away assignments are distributed evenly across the schedule.
How many games will be played?
For n teams, a single round robin has n×(n−1)/2 total games. Each team plays n−1 opponents. With an odd team count, one team has a bye each round. Calculate round robin games for your exact team count, or use a pre-built 8-team schedule generator.
Score tracking and standings
After generating your schedule, click Publish Live to create three links: Edit for the organiser, Score for referees, and View for public standings. Points and rankings update automatically — no app download required for participants.
Export and print options
Download your schedule as CSV for spreadsheets, print a clean layout for the venue, or copy a share link that encodes the full schedule. All export features are free with no watermarks. New to the format? what is a round robin tournament.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the round robin tournament generator work?
- Enter your team count (and optionally team names), choose single or double round robin, then click Generate. The algorithm uses a cyclic rotation method to ensure every team plays every other team exactly once per cycle, distributing home and away games as evenly as possible.
- What is the maximum number of teams?
- RobinDraw supports 2 to 32 teams. For odd-numbered groups, a BYE slot is automatically added so every round has complete matchups.
- Single vs double round robin — which should I choose?
- Single round robin is faster: every pair plays once. Double round robin runs two full cycles with home and away reversed — better for leagues where home advantage matters. Double round robin doubles the total games.
- How many games will my tournament have?
- For n teams, single round robin has n×(n−1)/2 games. Example: 8 teams = 28 games across 7 rounds. Use the round robin formula calculator to check before generating.
- Can I edit team names after generating?
- Yes. Click any team name in the schedule to rename it. The full schedule updates immediately.
- How do I share or export the schedule?
- Use Share Link to copy a URL with your full schedule encoded. You can also download CSV, print a clean layout, or export PDF — no account required.
- Can I track live scores?
- Yes. After generating, click Publish Live to create Edit, Score, and View links. Standings update automatically as scores are entered.
