About this Round Robin Schedule Generator
This generator uses a cyclic rotation algorithm — the standard method used in official sports scheduling. One team stays fixed while the others rotate around it each round, guaranteeing every pairing appears exactly once across the full schedule.
In Balanced mode, the algorithm also distributes home and away assignments evenly, so no team plays more than one extra home or away game across the whole season. For double round robin, the second cycle reverses all home/away designations.
Use the round robin formula page to pre-calculate how many rounds and games your tournament will require before you start entering teams.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the round robin schedule generator work?
- Enter your team count (and optionally team names), choose single or double round robin, then click Generate. The algorithm uses a cyclic rotation method to ensure every team plays every other team exactly once per cycle, distributing home and away games as evenly as possible.
- What is the maximum number of teams?
- RobinDraw supports 2 to 32 teams. For odd-numbered groups, a BYE slot is automatically added so every round has complete matchups.
- Can I edit team names after generating?
- Yes. Click any team name in the schedule to rename it. The full schedule updates immediately.
- How do I share the schedule?
- Click Share Link to copy a URL that encodes your full schedule. Anyone who opens the link sees exactly the same schedule — no account required.
- Can I track live scores with RobinDraw?
- Yes. After generating your schedule, click Publish Live to create an online tournament. You get three links: Edit for the organiser, Score for referees or scorekeepers, and View for everyone else. Standings update automatically as scores are entered.
- Do participants need an account to view live standings?
- No. Anyone with the View link can open live standings in a browser with no sign-up and no app download.
